FAQ

Buying from Furniture Expressions

Q  I’ve seen something I like. How do I go about ordering?

A  You can order over the phone or use the shopping facility online as you prefer. You can pay by credit or debit card.

Q  Can I order anytime?

A   Online, yes of course, 24/7.
For telephone ordering, or if you have an enquiry, please call 0845 000 4455 during our office hours; Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.

Q How do I use the online shopping facility?

A It’s really easy! Click on the ‘Buy Now’ button by each item you want to buy and it will be added to ‘My Basket’, which you’ll see at the top right hand of all screens. When you’ve finished shopping, click on the ‘My Basket’ icon. That takes you to the items you’ve selected and you get the chance to change your mind before you proceed to checkout, where you’ll need your payment card and delivery details.

Q   I’m thinking about buying a product from you but I’m not sure about something. What should I do?

A  Phone us and we’ll do our best to help you! Call 0845 000 4455. Or use the email form on the Contacts page.

Q I can’t really stay in a whole day waiting for my furniture. Can you give a specific delivery time?

A Near enough! We make delivery as convenient as possible for you and we provide a two hour slot. See our Delivery page for details.

Q I live on my own and I’m not sure about assembling a new bed, or even moving it from the front door to the bedroom. Do you offer an option to help with that?

A Yes we do. Our standard delivery (£45) takes your furniture to the room of your choice. Our upgrade delivery – the price of this varies according to the furniture you choose – assembles your furniture too and takes the packaging away. See our Delivery page for more details.

Q Does Furniture Expressions have a retail store?

A No. We sell online which gives you more convenience and cheaper prices!

Buying a Bed

We also recommend you have a read of our Tips page.

Q  I always get very warm in bed. Is there a type of mattress I should avoid?

A Memory foam mattresses can be warm, although these days there are often treatments to the cover which either absorb the heat and any moisture, or channel it away, like with our Bamboo bed.

Q I suffer with neck and shoulder pain. What should I look for?

A Patented spring units will be helpful for you, with their extra support, and an ortho bed might suit too. Memory foam is great for some individuals, though not everyone. Make sure you get your pillow right too; that’s just as important. A good physio or osteopath can advise.

Q  My husband suffers from back pain. Is a very firm bed the answer?
Some people prefer a firm bed, but it is important to remember that spines don’t follow a straight line. If the bed is very firm indeed, there will be parts of the back unsupported, which certainly won’t help pain and could contribute to it. Your husband might get on better with a bed that has plenty of support without necessarily being very firm; look out for a high count pocket spring bed, or a proprietary spring system that offers extra support. Best not to stint on price; a more expensive bed usually has more springs and more fillings which equates to greater support.

Q  I find tufted beds with their buttons uncomfortable! My husband laughs at me and says I can’t possibly feel them, but I swear I do!

A Don’t worry, you’re not on your own! It does sound as though it’s time to buy a new mattress, and nowadays there’s a huge choice of different mattress tops, from lovely knitted fabric that’s just one smooth expanse, to what’s called matramatic quilting, where the cover is stitched in a certain way without tufting. If hubby likes his divan to look traditional, that will suit him and be more comfy for you!

Q  I need maximum storage space but my bed has to go against a wall, which cuts down on the number of drawers I can have. Any ideas?

A  The ottoman style divan is made for you! The mattress and the top of the divan base lift up – usually a spring-loaded action makes this light work, and you don’t have to unmake the bed – and you have a full cavity inside for storage. Easy!

Q Can I use my pocket spring mattress on a bedframe?

A  We don't recommend pocket spring mattresses on slatted bases. Consider buying a
divan base with a pocket spring bed, or perhaps a different kind of mattress on the slatted base – many people find the patented spring models just as comfortable.

Q What are your divan base heights?

A Platform bases are approx 13½ inches high, with castors around 1½ -2 inch high.
Sprung Edge base are approx 14 inches high, castors as above.
