Care of upholstery
Caring for Leather and Leather-Look Upholstery
Dusting with a dry soft cloth works best for everyday care of your leather or leather-look (PU) upholstery.
Don’t ever be tempted to use saddle soaps, polishes, cleaners, oils or ammonia water.
For spots and spills, always try and mop up immediately. If you think water is necessary, then apply it lukewarm to the entire area. If it’s a greasy stain, you might prefer instead to use a proprietary leather or PU cleaner you can buy in the shops, although on real leather you will find the mark absorbs into the hide and disappears in time.
Never use a hairdryer or other heat source to dry PU or real leather.
Caring for Faux Suede and Chenille Upholstery
Wet marks: Blot gently, yet as thoroughly as you can with a white tissue or dry absorbent cloth. Avoid rubbing. Once dry, if there is a stain, follow the instructions for dried marks.
Dried marks: Wield your suede brush with delicacy! Rubbing hard can cause damage. If the upholstery is heavily soiled, use a very lightly dampened cloth, then leave the area to dry again before using the suede brush if necessary.
Always avoid using water if you can on faux suede and chenille.
